 Last trimester was a great start for many to their Community and Service hours, with some students clocking as many as 60 hours with our opportunities! To start us off this year, we have four brand new opportunities below... Take a look, Volunteer, Make A Difference!   Want to work in the Kindergarten? Ms. True is looking for a responsible student to take on the role of "Kindergarten Patrol Leader" every morning, before school (8:15 - 8:30am). (That amounts to a lovely 1.25 hours per week of Community and Service! After Trimester 2, you'll already have close on 15 hours clocked with this one activity!) You will be required to ensure that the kindergarten children are safe, playing together well and generally settled for the start of their day. This position is open to Grade 8 - 10 students only. Only 2 spaces left!  MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS Do you love reading? Cedar International School has just forged a new relationship with the B.V.I Red Cross. To start us off, the Red Cross is looking for four volunteers to assist in their newly-launched after school reading programme. This programme will begin on Tuesday, 1 February 2011 at their offices in Road Town. Volunteers will be required to read to younger students from the territory, many of whom come to simply enjoy stories and get help with their reading. We are looking for volunteers to read on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 each day. You may volunteer for any day/s you wish. Students interested in this service opportunity must apply online BEFORE FRIDAY, 28 JANUARY 2011.    Love to sail? To start our new year off, the Royal B.V.I Yacht Club has given us a wonderful service opportunity: The Yacht Club are looking for volunteers to assist on their committee boat at the following races: 22 January: Governor's Cup 5th & 6th February: Lowell Wheatley Anegada Pursuit Race and Cruise 28 - 31 March: B.V.I Spring Regatta Responsibilities will include raising and lowering the race flags, recording times etc. PLEASE NOTE: Only one volunteer is required per race so the opportunity will be given to the student who applies first!
